The American Heart Association today renewed its call to make CPR training mandatory for high schools, saying it would save lives.
capitol2The legislation (A9298/S7096) was approved by the Assembly Education Committee today. Its sponsored by Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, D-Nassau County, and Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-Buffalo.
The association had a rally near the Capitol, and victims spoke about the importance of the legislation, which has stalled in recent years.

(14,449 posts)I do like the idea. I am just worried that they will spend the money and then say, "Oops now we need to cut teachers or close the library". I just know it could happen exactly that way.

(14,449 posts)It seems that AHA has been trying this for awhile with zero results. I don't know why the AHA couldn't at least pay initial costs to get the program started.

(14,449 posts)I would imagine they do. They are a huge bureaucracy where I am sure the CEO or President makes millions a year.

(14,449 posts)If they want this to happen as they demand, perhaps they can find the money to do that. Otherwise, I seriously doubt this will ever happen.
