to vote for Rebecca Otto for state auditor. Mark Entenza is running against her.
Might as well give support to Dayton and Franken. One never knows who will decide to run against them.

(7,720 posts)Is he running for this office in an attempt to rehabilitate his reputation and maybe run for a higher office in the future?
question everything
(47,580 posts)except that in 2010 he was having a strange gubernatorial campaign.
I am all for more candidates in a primary, but credible ones. Had I not read about him in the strib from two days ago, I would not have known that he is running.
If he is seriously campaigning, I have not heard about him. On the other hand, I have questions about many candidates so... this may be the result of relying on the party endorsement.

(7,720 posts)He pulled out of the 2006 AG race because of a campaign finance situation.
I think he wants to get back in public office and eventually make another run for either AG or governor.
It's my understanding that a lot of Democrats were angered by his race for governor, but they still want his contributions.

(7,720 posts)monetary political contributions Ellison's campaign has received from Entenza?

(2,571 posts)Looks like Entenza has given Ellison thousand of dollars since 2006. I added up to just a bit below $10,000.

(28,094 posts)While I've never voted for a candidate based on who has endorsed him/her, I'll have to admit that an endorsement by Ellison would make me look closer at Entenza (if I were not paying attention).
Hopefully the primary voters will be people who have been paying attention.
dflprincess
(28,094 posts)and I'm wondering about it.
Entenza is such a weasel and running such a dirty campaign I can't quite see Ellison going along with that.

Here's a little info on one of his tricks:
Three-judge panel unanimously rejects Entenza claims on Voter ID (DFL press release)
A three-judge panel of the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings today unanimously rejected Matt Entenza's claim that State Auditor Rebecca Otto spoke falsely when she said she has not voted for Voter ID.
The panel concluded that even when viewing the evidence in the light most favorable to Entenza, the complaint against Otto fails as a matter of law and therefore it dismissed the complaint on the merits.
"This is a complete victory for Rebecca Otto over Matt Entenza's misleading claims and distortion of the facts," said Charlie Nauen, Otto's attorney in the matter.
"Rebecca Otto had it right," said DFL Party Chair Ken Martin. "Matt Entenza will say anything to get himself elected."
"I have never voted for Voter ID," said Otto. "In fact, I campaigned against it. So I am pleased that the panel of judges agreed so resoundingly that they rejected all of Mr. Entenza's claims. I will continue to focus on my job of watching out for the best interest of the taxpayers of Minnesota."
I just received this mailing yesterday - after the panel ruled against it. I imagine most people who get won't hear about the claim being ruled false. I don't know why Entenza shouldn't be required to send a 2nd mailing to all the people who got this one retracting his statement.
