Ex-MSU doctor Larry Nassar's medical license revoked for 3 years

LANSING — Larry Nassar's medical license has been revoked for three years and he must pay $100,000 before reapplying, a spokesman for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs said.

The decision was made today during a disciplinary hearing board meeting, said Michael Loepp, a spokesman for LARA.

Matt Newburg, one of Nassar's attorneys, declined to comment.

The state suspended Nassar's medical license in January after a complaint was filed by the Attorney General Bill Schuette's office that said between 1998 and 2005 Nassar sexually abused a girl who was younger than 13. Schuette's office also charged Nassar with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the same incidents.

Two years ago when this first started to build stating that his "adjustments" through the vagina and anus were a recognized osteopathic technique. This was part of a MSU internal investigation. They are on the MSU School of Osteopathic Medicine staff. The Dean congratulated Nassar when he was first "cleared".

This is an aspect of the story that has not been adequately followed up on. Those peers and the medical school need to be held accountable as well.
