Democrats choose new party chair
Indiana Democrats chose a new leader over the weekend: Mike Schmuhl, the former presidential campaign manager of Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
Leading the Indiana Democratic party will present a new challenge for Schmuhl. The last time the party won a statewide race was almost a decade ago when Sen. Joe Donnelly beat Republican Richard Mourdock claiming a U.S. Senate seat, and Glenda Ritz defeated incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett.
We spoke with Schmuhl on Tuesday about how he will use his experience with Buttigieg's campaign, the future of the party and who might run for U.S. Senate next year.
