Protesters interrupt SF Police Commission meeting

http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Protesters-interrupt-SF-Police-Commission-meeting-7394361.php

Protesters calling for the firing of San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr brought Wednesday’s Police Commission meeting to a standstill, delaying the discussion on proposed changes to the department’s use-of-force policies.

One day after hundreds marched to City Hall in support of five activists on a hunger strike, dozens filled the commission meeting, chanting until Commission President Suzy Loftus called the meeting into recess.

“We want them to fire the chief, but if they are not going to do that, then they’re not going to have their meeting,” said one activist who asked to be identified only as Chris.

Loftus tried to talk to the protesters, asking them to voice their concerns during public comment, but was repeatedly rebuffed and drowned out by the chants.

UPDATE: The Frisco 500 held their ground inside City Hall until they were finally forced out by police after a long, loud, wild shoving match at 10:30 p.m. May 6. At the Mission Police Station, after the Frisco 5 had to be evacuated to the hospital, police took down their encampment despite resistance by supporters. A few supporters remained there through the afternoon and evening to direct other supporters to join the occupation of City Hall....

This is by no means over. With the support of the community, the #Frisco5 have grown to the #Frisco500 and will soon become #Frisco5000. In solidarity with the strikers, they have reclaimed San Francisco City Hall for the people of San Francisco who demand justice for the Black and Brown victims of the murderous SFPD.

Mayor Ed Lee’s refusal to listen to the will of the people has awakened a sleeping giant. The people are demanding that he fire Chief Suhr! If he does not, then he must step down.

They will shut San Francisco down! There will be no more business as usual. As long as this administration is an accomplice to murder, the people will rise up and demand justice.
