Please Arizonans Fencing Protects You and The Horses

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/nonprofit-believes-fences-intentionally-destroyed-led-to-salt-river-horses-on-highway/ar-BB13MqIo?ocid=spartanntp

Money and the work of many people went into the effort to keep the wild horses on the Salt River in the Tonto National Forest - for your safety, and the horses, please DO NOT cut the fencing..signs along the roadway warn of horses, and for you to slow down..

We can co-exist. You want to fish along the river, or ride your horses, or hike, or just bring a chair and sit, by all means..it is a sight to behold when a group of wild horses are seen crossing the river, or just meandering behind you as they walk along the river..one of my favorite things to do..either tube down the river, or just plunk my chair in the water at rivers edge..

The speed limit is posted for the most part 45, but many travel at 50, 55 or better on the Bush Highway..signage to warn of horses, and post 25mph in many places.. this roadway takes dips, and bends around corners and you just don't know what is ahead..the views are majestic..and summer is approaching, wondering if tubing will be allowed..heavy traffic ensues..especially with Memorial Day...

is about the only commercial activity..I have only taken the bus once - we bring two cars, one for the landing lot, and one for our put the tubes in the water lot..it takes us about 4 hours to tube to our landing..only regulation is NO glass container..

Before we tube we always check the water depth to make sure that 4 hours doesn't turn into 6 or 7 hours..there is some security, mainly to make sure people don't get hurt..like cliff divers, and those who empty their coolers of refreshments - always have a DD (me) LOL...they do suggest not tying tubes together because of the rapids, but if you know where the rapids are..we untie..then regroup..it is fun, as long as you consider safety first...there are times we will take the kayaks..many do..

We are within a 30 minute ride to the tubing rental and bus area..but we bring our own tubes and vehicles..it is a beautiful area we have enjoyed for more than 20 years..how fortunate for you to grow up in the area..
