One dead, several others stung in bee attack

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One man has died, and several others were injured after being stung by bees Monday morning.

Tracy L. Koslowski, a spokesperson with Drexel Heights Fire District, says firefighters responded to a bee attack incident in the 6600 south block of Camino De La Tierra.

Two landscapers and a resident were attacked by a swarm of bees.

One of the landscapers coded while on the scene. Firefighters took him inside the home to treat him, but he did not survive the attack.

killer bees nobody's talked about for a long time. It's not like they've disappeared, just haven't heard of anyone being attacked by them for years. Last I heard, many years back, they had migrated as far north as Kern County. CA.

been told that all bees in AZ are africanized now. I had some particularly aggressive ones at my house several years ago, to the point that I had to remove 6 red-flowered shrubs near my front door. I had a hive in my yard a few years ago where they wouldn't let me out my back door, even at midnight! They had to all be killed by a bee-keeper at the cost of several hundred dollars.

Since I did those 2 things, it's been a little less buzzing around here. But beware, there coming to a hive near you.
