HBO renews Sorkin's The Newsroom!!!!!!!!

after only 2 episodes shown....

ahhh..sometimes dreams DO come true.

What an endorsement for Aaron Sorkin’s new drama The Newsroom: After only two weeks on the air, HBO announced today that it has renewed the drama that stars Jeff Daniels as an irascible cable news anchor. The Newsroom tallied 2.7 million total viewers for its premiere night last week, which included the encore run.

Imagine that: renewing a TV show that requires you to use your brain for viewing it. These days, that qualifies as a freaking miracle......

I find myself playing some scenes over again just to enjoy how well written they are.

Damn... that whole episode left me so raw and so saddened that no reasonable discourse on gun policies--or anything else-- has come from it.

It is a great show, but omg, I wasn't ready to relieve that nightmare.

together waiting to call Giffords dead or alive seemed a bit heavy handed and contrived. I find the blond office assistant to be a horrible actor. She just seems like she is acting. I like the multiple story lines. It's kind of hard to watch Sam Waterson speaking like he has a ball of flem in his throat. I hope he is okay. What a career that man has had.

way in which the women on the show have been portrayed (with the exception of Jane Fonda). The whole "love" triangle with the blonde ingenue is really puke-worthy, IMO, mainly because the actress is really annoying. And make a decision on the female executive producer. Is she the capable, intelligent woman that her creds and rep would suggest or is that just a fluke, which would justify portraying her as a whining, insecure, hyperexcitable "mess" fawning over the Jeff Daniel's character? It just isn't fathomable to try to have it both ways.

But, I really like Sorkin and feel certain he'll address these issues.

Look back at The West Wing, it's pretty similar. But for the record, I disagree with you. The interaction between the characters is another aspect of what makes the show interesting.

I still see and hear the cast of the West Wing in many of the characters but it is still good.

I just miss the way Sorkin's characters talk, too much fun, him and Joss Whedon stand out as writer's dialogue that gives me the vapors.
