(10,751 posts)...if I were moving out here, that area would be high on the list of a good place to live. But then I probably couldn't afford it.
Last weekend I was walking on one of the side streets and noticed a police car parked, idling. When I came back down the block they were still there. I wasn't sure if they'd care if I jay walked, did it anyway, then passed close by the car and noticed it wasn't just any police car -- it was Secret Service. I wonder what VIP was visiting there!
I guess if you live in or around DC, you get used to such things.

(10,751 posts)...this one was available refurbished from Adorama (via Ebay) for $124. Given its features and zoom range, I felt it was a no-brainer. I'm not giving up my Canon T2i, but I had to have something lighter to carry around while touristing, and really needed to minimize the outlay.
Thanks for the comment!

(17,090 posts)I would have taken it, too! I ended up getting an Olympus Toughman 810, because I thought it was more durable, and I'm not kind to equipment, but the Nikon was my runner-up.
Modern point and shoots take great photos and are sooo convenient. I just miss having a viewfinder, especially outside in the sun.
