(31,017 posts)for our next trip. Our first cathedral visit was to the Cathedral of Saint Stephen in Metz. We were truly floored with the beauty of not only the stained glass, but the architecture.

(149,308 posts)I hope you take digital photos. Film (for me) meant disappointment in the quality of the photos. Digital makes it easier!
I'm glad my photos inspired you!

(2,682 posts)One regret of my life is that when in my early 20's I lived 300 miles from Paris for two years and never went there. Had a husband at the time who was pretty good about driving some places but not too keen on getting out of the car to look around. So your pics are really special!! Thanks😀

(149,308 posts)It would have been tough getting him to take you there. I'm glad that these photos are making you happy...
My husband and I have been to Paris several times, and this time, he didn't want to go. So I asked my niece to go with me, and we made the trip. I really wanted to get some good photos and I'm happy with these. It was definitely worth all the money I spent!

(5,157 posts)2 Questions:
1. Where in Paris is Ste. Chapelle located?
2. The image of the person with a sword between his teeth? Who does it represent? Is it God the Father; is it Jesus; or another I don't recognize?

(9,706 posts)12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. 14The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. 15His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. 16He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.
I've no idea where in Paris Ste. Chapelle is located. I think if I ever went there, I wouldn't want to leave!
How miraculous that such a fragile wonder has survived all the wars and revolutions since it was built.
California Peggy has (as always) done us all a big favor by sharing her photos.

(5,157 posts)Book of Revelation has always been very mysterious to me, so I don't go near it often.
However, I see the image captures all from that biblical passage most beautifully and fully.

(5,157 posts)I thought the Ile de la Cite' was smaller than it actually is, apparently.
I've been to Paris at least three times, but don't recall being in Ste. Chapelle, and now too old to go again, so I'll enjoy your beautiful photos in place of a visit...

What always fascinates me is that they designed and built these things with the bare minimum of mathematics and measuring tools. Not even slide rules, much less Autocad and steam engines.

I had a ball taking photos--hardly knew where to turn next.
Glad you enjoyed!

(36,214 posts)What incredible beauty! The gothic architecture is breathtaking, but oh my the stained glass! The illustrations and allegories of medieval life are superb. What a wonderful opportunity to photograph them!

(149,308 posts)It's a truly fabulous place for all the things you mentioned. I'd been at least once before but my film photos did not do it justice.
I had to go back, and I did.
I was exhausted, hot and sweaty, but I got there and I took full advantage of that. I may never return, but now I am much more satisfied!
Thank you for your kind and descriptive words.
