Trying to get shots of boats passing by today(for the May contest with the Nautical and Nice theme) has been a bust, but I kind of like the way this shot looking down to the pier
shows off the horizontal lines of all the decks running out to give access to the beach from the oceanfront houses.

(7,911 posts)The framing and B&W silhouette effect make this an amazing image.

(31,410 posts)I don't play around with B&W much, but I've been getting some ideas on when to do it from seeing what others do in the photo group.

The B&W really brings out the details too.
Well done!

We've stayed at this house quite a few times when we come to the beach. I've never taken this shot.
I was sitting on the deck--camera beside me--waiting for boats to go by. Took a lot of shots of boats, none of them worth a &^*).
Then I happen to look sideways, and noticed how the deck railings all lined up and could even see way down to the pier.
