I love film photography, especially since all the film equipment I really really wanted as a kid frequently shows up in thrift stores for absurdly low prices.

The feel of a mechanical film camera cannot be replicated by electronics.

dynamic range than digital. Particularly B&W which historic artisans liken Ansel Adams exploited so well. BTW, I still think there were at least two more zones that Ansel kept to himself.

You can get awfully close with digital by manipulating the lighting contrast or using multiple exposures and image stacking but neither are possible in many instances and digital is less "grainy" than film. I have hundreds of Kodachrome 64 images that are nowhere close to the fine detail of 8 mpxl digital.

The thing about film is that it isn't possible to view the image immediately and just reshoot for better effect. It makes you think before making the exposure. That in itself makes a difference in the end result.

Digital isn't "better" than film or vice versa, it's a different medium and requires a different approach.
