(60,082 posts)manual lens can be adapted due to the short flange distance.
I was wondering about this of course, not that I have many (2) lenses
I am such a dunce about all of it.
I surely hope to get good photographs in spite of myself. I'm really excited - can't really afford it - but then under all circumstances it seems just perfect for me.

(60,082 posts)If you don't mind full manual control, you can pick up inexpensive adaptors. An M42 to E mount will open you up to dozens of options. My first M42 lens was the Yashinon Dx 50mm 1.7 It's still one of the best in my collection. It cost me $20. I like my PK mount lenses too.

(22,381 posts)and my lenses are a 75 - 300 telephoto and a 1.8/50 Portrait (which I forgot I had) and a 2.8/30 macro.
Other than being excited about the new camera on the way, and finding the money for it, my life is a bit too tricky to learn about it at the moment.
I will see what kind of instructions come with it.

(60,082 posts)different now, so there will be a learning curve. If you want to used those lenses, you need to get the "Sony Alpha A-Mount Adaptor for E-Mount." It has the electrical connections so the AF and aperture will work on your NEX body. Do the Alpha lenses have in lens image stabilization?
The kit lens should be all you need for a long time. It's a good versatile lens.
