Does anyone use Gimp or Picasa?

I want to stitch two photos together--side by side--to create a single photo which the software that came with my Canon camera
will do IF they are the same size. I can adjust the sizes on photobucket--but when I download them back
to my computer they end up converted and still not the same size.

Does anyone know if either Gimp or Picasa will create that side by side image? If so, which do you recommend?

Thanks!

Just load your two pics into a folder on Picasa. Click on "create";
click on picture collage. Select each pic and individually you can
make your pics the same size, side by side. It's really easy...I use
this feature a lot.

You would just make a canvass the size you want and cut and paste both pictures on to it.

Irfanview or Xnview will do that just fine without any learning curve or huge downloads. And they're both free.

Irfanview is the more famous one, but for some reason it doesn't work on my old XP box.

That's not all they do, of course, and I use them for lots of "quick and dirty" work with images. I have the GIMP, Paint.Net and Paint Shop Pro, but I use end up using Xnview most of all.
