(17,088 posts)Technical disaster but still kind of cool...
meh...
Some day I'll learn how to do night photography. Or monkeys will fly out my butt. 50/50 which happens first.
Had fun driving out a goat path into the middle of nowhere at least...

(14,900 posts)well aware that it takes "many shots" to get the right shot, and often truth be told, the "money shot" many times may just not be there!
But...you do indeed have a great shot and I truly applaud you! Night shots are my nemesis, although I am truly on a quest to conquer them, and have succeeded to some extent!

(22,759 posts)by the leaves... so excited about the super moon until I realized I wouldn't be able to see it
years ago I was driving into St Johnsbury, VT, turned onto a hilly street and I gasped at how big the moon was (this was before I knew about super moon) I was totally blown away... it was HUGE!!

(19,459 posts)The skies were crystal clear last night, and the moon was enormous coming above the horizon, but I figured tonight was the go to night, so I didn't bust out the camera.
And, sure enough...if I had bothered to check the weather report I would have seen that there is a "very rare" tropical storm (rare for our area in late June) due to dump 2"-3" of rain here starting tomorrow morning; and, lo, and behold, the clouds have socked us in as I type.
No Super Moon for us...
EDIT TO ADD: Moonrise is at 8:54 pm in the North-East SF Bay Area, for those in this region who might want to give it a shot (who knows...maybe the clouds will break fortuitously at that time)

I should have faked it last night....

(2,029 posts)I woke up at about 3:45 this morning and couldn't help myself from checking whether the skies had finally cleared. I'll regret it later today but, this is what I got for my trouble...

(22,759 posts)good shots...
I was able to see the moon this morning, about 4 am but it was not a good shot... I have seen the super moon and in the right place at the right time, it is spectacular... I was hoping for that this weekend

(4,589 posts)I was all set for going out last night but then the clouds moved in. Should've gone out Saturday. Maybe tonight, the moon will be a little less super but still should be somewhat "larger".
