As I understand it, Eric and George were putting some finishing touches on the song but lacked rhyming lyrics to follow "I told you not to wander 'round in the dark". Ringo, who was also on hand, interceded and ended the impasse by offering up the "swans in the park" line. Meant as a bit of a joke, it was received as a stroke of genius, although not quite brilliant enough to get a co-credit.
