(4,483 posts)I don't know how your camera could work any closer up than this (unless you take a voyage up that man's nose). These are breath-taking pictures, verging on plant porn.
I may have to turn you in.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)Please don't turn me in!!
I always try to see just how close I can actually get and stay in focus. It's amazing. And I'm having a ball, doing it!

(32,109 posts)The first one Id vote for in any DU contest! All are superb!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)But I'm nowhere near pro level. It would be too much work to be able to pull that off. And I'm too old.
The photo I'm entering in this month's contest is one that I took with this lens. So we'll see!
Thanks for your wonderful response.

(3,310 posts)I love the oysters and striped gourds.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)Yeah, the oyster mushrooms look great to my eye too.
And I bought the striped gourd so I can see what it tastes like.
This particular vendor has a lot of variety!

(86,824 posts)Several nice ones there. I like the first fungi and several others. What is the distance between the lens and the subjects?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)I really don't know.
Probably a matter of a few inches. The camera tells me when I'm in focus and I stop there. So I don't have to measure or figure it out. The camera tells me with a little green dot.
A couple of the super close-up photos were done with an electronic thingy called a 2X extender. It's a sort of electronic zoom. I use it mostly on my moon photos. It's magic!
And thank you!
2naSalit
(86,824 posts)An automatic lens! I like that idea.
I still haven't acquired a newer camera yet, this gives me ideas.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)It's mirrorless and it contains the 2X extender. Those two features by themselves make the camera very worthwhile.
Not sure what you mean by 'automatic lens.'
2naSalit
(86,824 posts)Things are in focus and all that. That's what I call automatic, could be different with camera manufacturers, though.

(5,654 posts)Just one thing, though, this wonderful collection was captured with your high quality equipment, but it would not be the same without your eye for composition. Very cool!

(149,727 posts)I really appreciate your thoughtful remarks.

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)When I spotted the eucalyptus, I knew I had to get that photo. I love the colors and the shapes of the leaves.
I thought it would be a good one to end the collection with.

Thank you!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)Some time ago, I posted on Facebook about this sort of thing. I said "In spite of the horror, we still have beauty." I'll see if I can find it and post it here.
I'm so glad you found my photos beautiful and uplifting.

(696 posts)I didn't even know that was possible without a computer. I bet you are having a ball. Breathtaking! Thank you.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)I'm not sure I understand what you mean 'without a computer.'
I'm sure the camera has a computer inside it, and I'm typing and posting on one.
Anyway, I most certainly am having a ball! It's a great hobby!

(14,593 posts)is the third photo down actually is.
We used to grow rhubarb in our garden when I was a kid. Brings back fun memories. We used to pick stalks and eat them raw.
The colorful flowers and those white mushrooms - really well done!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,727 posts)That third one down is the Lion's Mane.
The one you thought is rhubarb is actually Swiss Chard! They do look a lot alike. The leaves on the rhubarb are slightly poisonous; we cut them off! I love making it into sauce. YUM.
Glad you enjoyed seeing the photos!
