Test post: A screencap I put on postimage.

I've been trying to find a good image hosting service that won't reveal personal info & will give me a "clean display" of the images I link to here. I've given up on Flickr & Imgur, & I'm trying postimage because I noticed some DUers use it.

This is a test, a Cyclocane screencap. Let me know if you can see the image, & if you can search around & determine any of my personal info (like any postimage account info) from the link.

Pasting the URL:

https://postimg.cc/FddfhzPP

Using the DU "link /link" function:

[link:https://postimg.cc/FddfhzPP|]

Thanks!

When I view your post, which apparently includes a link to the image, I see this:

[link:https://postimg.cc/4YRpwDfK|]

I see the image in your post. BUT when I view my own post, sharing the image, I see this:

[link:https://postimg.cc/FYb36TzT|]

I don't see the image, I only see the links to the image.

Is this normal? Is this just how DU works, when you share links to your own images you don't see the images in your own post, you only see the links, but everyone else sees the images?

Thanks for your help, I'm just trying to figure out how this works!

Also when you paste your direct link, make sure it ends in jpg
If it doesn’t, erase png or whatever and type in jpg

[link] is for rendering a link as a line of clickable text, and [img] tags and most other bracketed tags are not recognized as tags on this board, so they're just copied to the output. You just want a plain URL to a graphics format file.

On Flickr, there is an option to generate a "BBcode" link. It includes a bunch of tags that don't work here, but it is the only option that includes a direct URL to an image file, so you can copy and paste just that URL (or copy and paste everything, then delete everything except the URL), and it will work fine here. (There are also URLs to Flickr pages in the generated code, so make sure you just get the URL for the .jpg file.)

Good to know I can just paste the link & not mess with the DU "link /link" button. Makes it easier.
