Related: About this forumSome photos of echinacea from my front yard.
For the record, its the first year Ive been able to get my echinacea to actually bloom before the deer eat it to the ground. Ive been using some spray called Deer Away and it works pretty well. It smells like mint and I guess deer dont like mint. Ive so enjoyed seeing these beautiful flowers grow
.finally!

(57,073 posts)Do you use as herb?
MontanaMama
(23,344 posts)Because the deer would eat them before the blooms would open. Im going to have to look up uses for them.

(149,726 posts)These are such beautiful flowers! And you even persuaded a butterfly to come aboard!
Wonderful!
I'm sure the deer aren't starving, and now we get to see your flowers bloom.
Thank you!

(23,344 posts)There is a plumb tree about 15 feet from these flowers that the deer (and bears) take full advantage of.

(31,408 posts)I had a rabbit invading my courtyard, ate all my coneflowers. Damn rabbit! Waiting for black chicken wire to be delivered--today--and will install it over the courtyard fence to see if I can keep the little bugger out. I do not want it setting up house to eat my daffodils/tulips when they start popping up next spring!

(23,344 posts)here and there in my yard too. He ate the new fronds on my ferns this past spring. He either moved on or something bigger ate him
I saw his prints in the dirt for a couple weeks then poof no more prints. I hop your chicken wire does the trick.
