I've always said ... hey, if you're going to shamelessly ape some old band, you could do infinitely worse than copping classic Zep ... and these (very pretty, I might add) young men do it pretty damn convincingly.
I esp. love the axeman's (who is, as one can obviously deduce, the identical twin of the singer ... and the bass player is their younger brother) tone on this one ... ya gotta love them vintage SG w.tube distortion soundz ...
Enjoy ... there's also some vids of their Coachella perf from last weekend on youtube that are worth watching. Such as this one ... one of my good buddies was there, and he turned me onto these guys earlier this week ... this is just pure live Zep right here man. I really dig their guitarist.
Robert P. has personally blessed them, and even implied he's jealous of the lead singer lol ... and Sir Elton had them play some occasion recently for him & hubby. Pretty high accolades in my book

(33,643 posts)growing as each record went along (at least until Presence) ... oh, and also start writing some decent lyrics ... they could end up being pretty damn great. The musical talent is definitely there, they just need some divine inspiration.

(33,643 posts)Backwards and forwards already ... might make them a tough choice.
For sure if someone who knew little about music asked me for a good option, they and the Beatles would be my first suggestions ... followed by Dylan and the Stones

(21,113 posts)Steven has gone solo for the past few years but the quality hasn't diminished.
In the early years, PT was very prog art rock, but as they matured, the music did also.
It would be difficult for me to pin down my favorite PT song because there are so many great ones.
One of my favorites is

(1,104 posts)Just I just watched the three videos that my cable box searched up LOL but yeah I really dig it I like the way they have variety between songs one was totally inspired by Tool others were more like a mix of folk and psychedelic which is really cool.... Mellow moments, rockin moments- I like it I think it's a thing now LOL

(33,643 posts)They have a total of 6 great albums: Piper, Meddle, Dark Side, WYWH, Animals, The Wall ... and I know every song by heart backwards and forwards on all but Piper which I've only heard maybe 10 times. The rest I've heard roughly 1M times I think ... hell I could even probably sing ya a few songs off the top of my head right now from Obscured by Clouds from start to finish like Childhoods End and Wots ... Uh The Deal? (couple of Gilmour classics) for example
You could pick any Floyd song from 1971 (Meddle) forward and I could tell you whether the vocals are Waters, Gilmour, or both and which verses they sing if they both sing on it. I could tell you such Floyd obscurities as the fact that despite Have A Cigar sounding very much like it's sung by Waters, is actually sung by one of their favorite English singers by the name of Roy Harper (also celebrated on the the last song on Led Zeppelin III, a song called "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" ... and note that it's the only Floyd song apart from Great Gig In the Sky not sung by Waters and/or Gilmour since 1971.
In fact, I could probably sit here and write down the lyrics to The Final Cut off the top of my head and get it like 75% right ... even though I've heard the whole record like 3 times in the last 20 years.
A lifetime of nothing but Floyd from here on out would be pretty depressing, much as I love them

(21,113 posts)enjoy, but if you haven't, you really should give PT a try. They are amazing to say the least. I never get tired of listening to them.
In case you did not notice my post above, PT is Porcupine Tree.

(33,643 posts)Specifically the highly-regarded 'In Absentia' album from the early 2000's. I did like it quite a bit. Kinda Rush-like in some ways ... but a bit more rocking.
I'll have to check out more of their stuff sometime ...

(3,075 posts)but I will admit that I was a bit shocked when I saw this video for the first time.. after frequently hearing this song on the radio I looked up the band... they do NOT look like I pictured in my mind! I will be seeing them in 3 weeks at Rock on the Range!!
