I'm not familiar with Son Volt or Uncle Tupelo. I mean I've heard a track here and there, but that's about it. Obviously, I been missing out.

They're all awesome ...

Here's a Jeff Tweedy tune from Anodyne I'm partial too, not the best song on it or anything but I just like it a lot ... it's totally got a classic Zep feel the way everything's on the backbeat ...
