About "Antonia": It's a beautiful piece of music. The song has been circulating in my mind since your post about it. The prominent accordian music is played by David Blamires. From what I've read Pat tasked him with learning the accordian for the song and he did. But, David can play anything, so no surprise about that. He had at least one solo album along the way and it is wonderful: "The David Blamires Group" in 1990. I don't know if it is still available but it's on Youtube. If you like Pat Metheny you'll like David Blamires. He also played on the Metheny group albums "Still Life (talking)", "We Live Here" and "Imaginary Day", mostly brass horns. I saw the "We Live Here" tour way back when.
The vocals on "Antonia", meaning the whistling, is by Mark Ledford. He was with Pat for several albums. A remarkable musician in his own way. He could also play any instrument.
I suspect you like Pat Metheny's music as much as I do and I applaud you for that. His music has made my life much richer than it would have been otherwise.

(20,268 posts)Saw that one when I searched. But chose the one off the album.
Our local uni. station offers mostly classical evening and thru the nite with mix-ins of jazz, and like that here and there. 'Antonia' was played the nite I posted.

(3,657 posts)But another one from Secret Story with David Blamires and Mark Ledford on horns, in Germany in 1993, I think.
