http://ultimateclassicrock.com/guitar-pioneer-allan-holdsworth-dies/?trackback=tsmclipProgressive rock and jazz fusion guitar pioneer Allan Holdsworth, who Eddie Van Halen called the best, in my book, has died of unknown causes at the age of 70.

Holdsworth is so damned good that I cant cop anything. I cant understand what hes doing, Van Halen raved in 2008. Ive got to do this [does two-hand tapping], whereas hell do it with one hand.

Upon hearing of his death, Holdsworths guitar playing peers were quick to sing his praises on social media, with Totos Steve Lukather saying he changed the game and Peter Frampton describing him as brilliant, unique. You can see many more testimonials below.

Adios, Alan - and thanks.
I had the pleasure of seeing him live three times.

It was like getting a musical blowtorch to the face.
The experience must have been similar to what it was like seeing Coltrane play.

Unlike Weather Report - great concert, but the most arrogant band I've ever seen.
Not one word to the audience - not even "thank you" at the end of the show. Still, awesome performance.
