An interview with Jason Isbell, on his new album "Reunions"

A great listen. "Reunions" is very different than previous JI400U albums, but it still is very, very good. If you like this, I would encourage you to seek out the NYT piece on Jason and Amanda, his wife, that focuses on the struggles they went through during the making of this album and quarantine. Both of them are incredibly beautiful and amazing spirts and we love them both...and a special shout out to Mercy Rose, perhaps one of the focal points of this new album...may she be blessed to follow her own musical path.

Spotify has had:
What've I Done to Help (great for the first few mins, but I tend to skip to next song before it's over due to repetition)
Dreamsicle (love it)
Only Children (love it)
Be Afraid (like it)

available for a couple of weeks.

Looking forward to hearing the rest of the tunes and this interview, thx Doc!

Edit: On first listen, I'm on St. Peters Autograph ... it's my fave tune so far ... sounds like an 70's song but I can't pin down which one ...

The album is awesome and I agree "St Peters Autograph" is one of the best songs. I'll see if I can find that NYT interview...damn, it's a tough read and it really adds depth to some of the lyrics.

As does this one...

Damned if I don't get emotional every time he sings "Daddy said the river would always lead me home...but the river can't take you back in time and Daddy's dead and gone".....shit that makes me think of my old man and miss him so much every time.

That version is especially epic, too. It just finished actually.

Other parts I love in particular:
Mama said God won't give us too much to bear
Well it might be true in Arkansas but I'm a long long way from there

And the whole verse about college and amphetamines
