I read that Mark Knopfler wrote it after reading the book "Mason Dixon" by Thomas Pynchon (actually, I think I heard him say this in a radio interview with Bob Edwards when the album was released). The whole album is top notch.

And his and Taylor's voices blend so well together.

Great album, anything by Knopfler is primo imo.

Just odd and off center enough that it keeps your attention and the melodies and arrangements are just so elegant.

I LOVE this record. Damn I may have to fire up my big stereo and play this again
