From the debut album

in 1962. Number 1 album on the charts for over a month. Not without controversy because the Republicans and the Birchers were convinced that folk singers and folk music were tools of the Communists. This is some of the most beautiful music from this trio.

I noticed the Ukrainian flag...we very seldom hear news about Ukraine anymore. My heart hurts for the Ukrainian people.

and my grandparents always listened to folk. progressive folk. My first song that stuck in my brain was PPM singing puff the magic dragon - every Time I hear that song it brings tears.

Meanwhile, only later in life did I learn to appreciate the depth of messages in the majority of 1960's folk music.

No wonder the Birchers were so against it.

Thank you for the memory...
