RIP Dexter Romweber

Learned late last night a local music icon passed away.
I remember my first encounter, had wandered into a used bookstore/cafe to peruse books as I was wont to in the late 80’s early 90’s and there was an old upright piano in the front corner … a young fellow walked to it, pulled out the bench seat and sat and began to tickle the keys and then chord and then sing and then bang and croon for I don’t know 45 minutes to an hour unaccompanied as I watched mesmerized at what appeared to be the love child of Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis and Little Richard, with a soupçon of punk poured over it all.
Then he finished, and with a bow to the piano, walked away.
It was only later I learned it was Dexter Romweber from catching him at shows at local venues.
What a talent, gone too soon at 57 years.
