Related: About this forumBass solo! Starring Geddy Lee.
I'm currently reading Geddy's memoir, and this joke from Bob Geldof appears in Chapter 20:
So these explorers are traveling up the Amazon through the Brazilian rainforest. The first night, they're sitting around the campfire, and they hear drums. They're alarmed, but the guide says, "Don't worry, drums fine. When drums stop, then trouble."
So the next night, same thing. "Drums, don't worry. When drums stop, trouble."
Then, the third night, of course, the drums stop. They look to the guide in fear, and he says, "Uh-oh, bass solo."
So the next night, same thing. "Drums, don't worry. When drums stop, trouble."
Then, the third night, of course, the drums stop. They look to the guide in fear, and he says, "Uh-oh, bass solo."
Take it away Dirk!

Love Geddy. Great person, amazing bass player and singer (yep, love his voice).
How do you like the memoir so far?

(11,150 posts)2. Have you seen his TV series?
It's on Paramount, I believe - he goes around interviewing other bassists about their lives - Les Claypool, Krist Novoselic, Robert Trujillo are the ones I remember. He hangs out w/ Trujillo playing Jaco Pastorious' "Bass of Doom."

A lot of the stories I have already heard, but there's some more in-depth stuff that has been fun.

Everyone is playing their butt off.
Love the tone of his bass. Very round, but punchy.
