Police Dog Blues

Blind Blake, Ry Cooder or 13 year-old Irish Blues singer, Muireann Bradley (Bradley is now 17)?

Muireann Bradley plays Blind Blake's 1929 masterpiece in open D tuning "Police dog blues", strangely the only tune he ever recorded in that tuning.
Most guitarists play this one in open D with capo on fret 2 making it open E, but Muireann has tuned up to open E with the capo on fret 6 making it open B flat ( or A sharp) to suit where she's comfortable singing.

I drove DEEP into the weeds listening to all covers. Some are really good, a lot, no so much.

I have listened to her version a couple dozen times and I gotta say I like hers better than Ry's. And I've been a big Ry Cooder fan for decades.

Blind Blake and Blind Lemon Jefferson!

Pretty cool!

Anyone who's familiar with the history of Deep Ellum in Dallas, knows about Blind Lemon Jefferson.
