1. My First Music Hero

I heard part of one album & told my dad I didn't want to do the Schirmer stuff anymore.
Monk made me want to be a jazz piano player at 10.
Decades later, our drummer heard Monk for the first time, listening in his car during sales calls.
The next day he told me that after hearing Monk, he completely understood what I was talking about. "I thought I was listening to you play!"
Yeah, Monk was pretty darned important to me.
