12:00 AM Hoosiers (1986)

&pp=ygUIaG9vc2llcnM%3D

A basketball coach gets one last chance at redemption at a rural Indiana high school.
Dir: David Anspaugh Cast: Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper
Runtime: 115 mins Genre: Drama Rating: TV-14 CC: Y

Oscar nominations: ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE -- Dennis Hopper {"Shooter"}
MUSIC (Original Score) -- Jerry Goldsmith

Trivia: Gene Hackman, who during filming had predicted the movie would be a flop, insisted on viewing a rough cut of the film before going in to re-record some of his audio. "Angelo and I knew that if he didn't like the [rough cut], he wouldn't show up at the studio to re-record his dialog," David Anspaugh said. "But he showed up. He walked into the room, took his glasses off, looked me in the eyes, and said, 'How the hell did you do that?'"

Trivia: For the scene where Dennis Hopper stumbles onto the court drunk during the sectional game, Hopper wanted a 10-second notice before the director called action. He spun around for 10 seconds, allowing him to stagger onto the court and appear drunk. He remembered James Dean in Giant (1956) asking George Stevens for 30 seconds so he could spin around to better feel the inebriation.

2:00 AM 12 Angry Men (1957)

?v=1573592716

&pp=ygUUMTIgYW5ncnkgbWVuIHRyYWlsZXI%3D

Runtime: 95 mins Genre: Drama Rating: TV-PG CC: Y

Oscar nominations: ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE -- Dennis Hopper {"Shooter"}
MUSIC (Original Score) -- Jerry Goldsmith

Trivia: Director Sidney Lumet had the actors all stay in the same room for several hours on end and do their lines over and over without filming them. This was to give them a real taste of what it would be like to be cooped up in a room with the same people.

Trivia: Because the film failed to make a profit, Henry Fonda never received his deferred salary. But he always regarded this film as one of the three best he ever made -- the others being The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and The Ox-Bow Incident (1943).

A teen-aged sleuth tries to clear one of her father's friends of a murder charge.
Dir: William Clemens Cast: Bonita Granville, Frankie Thomas, John Litel
Runtime: 68 mins Genre: Suspense/Mystery Rating: TV-G CC: Y

Trivia: Bonita Granville named this film as her favorite of the four Nancy Drew movies she made.

Trivia: This is the first film series from Warner Bros. specifically aimed at the youth market. The studio hoped it would compete with MGM's highly successful "Andy Hardy" series. But, after the fourth and last "Nancy Drew" film, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase (1939), Bonita Granville would move to MGM where she would play "Kay Wilson", Andy Hardy's college girlfriend in two films of that series: Andy Hardy's Blonde Trouble (1944) and Love Laughs at Andy Hardy (1946).

Trivia: Zero Mostel, who created the role of Tevye on Broadway, was reportedly bitter he did not play the role in the movie. Years later, when his son Josh Mostel received a phone call offering him the role of Blotto in the TV series Delta House (1979), he reportedly yelled; "tell them to ask Topol's son if he wants the job!"

Trivia: After the film was completed, Robert E. Burns disappeared. There was one report that he was captured again and extradited back to Georgia just after the film was released, but all records indicate that he was never caught. However, in 1945, Burns returned to Georgia on the assurance of the state's governor, Ellis Arnall. The Georgia Pardon and Parole Board commuted Burns' sentence and restored his civil rights, but he was refused a full pardon because he had originally admitted his guilt in the holdup. Burns died in 1955.

Trivia: Jack Benny's cameo role was originally offered to Stan Laurel, but Laurel turned it down. When his best friend and partner Oliver Hardy died in 1957, he pledged never to perform again. He kept that promise for the rest of his life. By the time this happened, a long shot of the character had already been filmed with a stand-in wearing Laurel's trademark bowler hat. This is why Benny is seen wearing a bowler hat despite never having worn one as part of his regular work.

Trivia: Don Rickles reportedly wanted to be in the movie but was never asked. He never let Stanley Kramer live it down, either, even heckling him about it from the stage whenever Kramer came to see Rickles' show.

Trivia: The fictional Santa Rosita State Park was located at Portuguese Bend in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. It was landscaped for the movie. It is off limits to the general public.

Trivia: Rick's Cafe was one of the few original sets built for the film, the rest were all recycled from other Warner Bros. productions due to wartime restrictions on building supplies.

Trivia: During the scene in which the "La Marseillaise" is sung over the German song "Die Wacht am Rhein" ("The Watch on the Rhine&quot , many of the extras had real tears in their eyes as a large number were actual refugees from Nazi persecution in Germany and elsewhere in Europe and were overcome by the emotions the scene brought out. The scene was copied from Jean Renoir's The Grand Illusion (1937), in which French soldiers in a German POW camp sing the song as a similar gesture of defiance. In that film the song was led by a prisoner who was in drag for a show the prisoners were putting on. The song was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled "Chant de guerre pour l'Armée du Rhin" ("War Song for the Rhine Army&quot .

Trivia: The difference in height between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman changes throughout the film. This is because Bergman was actually one to two inches taller than Bogart. To create the illusion that it was vice versa, Michael Curtiz had Bogart stand on boxes and sit on pillows in some shots, or had Bergman slouch down (as when she sits on the couch in the "franc for your thoughts" scene).

Trivia: Dooley Wilson (Sam) was a professional drummer who faked playing the piano. As the music was recorded at the same time as the film, the piano accompaniment was performed live byJean Vincent Plummer, who was situated behind a curtain in a way that that Dooley could watch, and copy, his hand movements.

Trivia: (at around 1h 35 mins) Rick tells Louie to fill in the letters of transit in the names of "Mr. and Mrs. Victor Laszlo." However, the marriage was kept a strict secret, so Ilsa would not have changed her name to Laszlo; she still would have been legally Ilsa Lund.

Trivia: In the mid-2000s, Madonna wanted to remake the film with her as IIsa Lund and Ashton Kutcher as Rick. She pitched the idea to every studio but was unanimously rejected by every studio with one studio executive telling her the "film is deemed untouchable". She eventually scrapped the proposed project.
