8. You're welcome

Actually the people here are pretty much the only ones who have seen my art in many, many years. I recently moved to New Mexico and after I got here I actually looked at my art for the first time in decades. Then one day I started posting it on DU. It was nice to have others look at it and appreciate it. So thanks!

4. Beautiful model, and beautiful resulting drawing.

I especially like how you handled her hair, soft fluffy, a little wispy. My eye is also drawn to her side and midsection. Just soft and natural. Finally I love her fingers, so nicely defined it seems with the minimal amount of drawing/effort.

5. She always brought props like the blanket she's sitting on

Itís amazing how much better the models look with props. I have one of her with a large hat which Iíll post soon. The props add so much! They can inspire you to do the drawing much better! Painting studios are usually pretty dim looking.

Thanks!

6. I always was glad when a dancer was a model in my drawing classes

since they could hold the poses longer. I also like contrast in light so the muscles provide more definition. The worst models are dogs. You think they are sleeping for a while and that is when they move.

7. Nowadays though you can take a photo with your iPhone

But back then it was impossible unless you always carried a camera with you. Iím always ready to take a photo if I see something I like or I can use when I paint later. I use my iPhone for lots of research shots of something I might paint.

11. Absolute perfection!

Very inspiring. Love the way you use lines in drawing her body. Reminds me of Degas. Simple, yet perfect.

12. I have always thought

that the reason this rendition works is because she is within a setting. The model always brought something to add to her poses. In this case she brought the throw sheís sitting on and which she draped over the large pillows. And, for some reason when she posed I was extremely lucky to get compelling views. I have another drawing in which she wore a large floppy hat which I will post another day.

I liked the drawing with the floppy hat so much that I used it to paint her portrait. Iíll post that too at a later date.

Thanks for commenting on it! Your comments are always welcomed!

13. Beautiful drawing!

That's such a challenging pose, but you made it look easy. I especially love the way you captured the gesture of her neck and head, the shadow shape across her torso, and the composition you found with the blanket she brought.

14. I lucked out with this model.

It was a challenge because thereís foreshortening too. I was inspired by her pose and her personal touch with the blanket so I was able to get in the zone quickly. I liked the drawing so I included the pattern on the blanket. It makes the drawing more than just an ordinary pose.
