I love it that you can do these things quickly (and well). I think about a painting for days, take more days to decide how to do it, work on it for weeks, hate it, wait for the oil paint to dry, then try to do it over. I wish I could do what you do.

5. I've done one oil painting. I had zero control. Colors slipping and sliding into each other. Forms

refusing to take shape. Sometime I'll post a pic of it.

6. You can prevent that by working in layers, letting the paint dry

before you do any more painting of that area. You can get wonderful effects by painting a transparent color over a dried color - it's called glazing. But it's slow because it takes days - or more - for some paints to dry.

8. It's called glazing in Wc, too. :) My next oil painting I'll try thinning it a bit and doing layers.

I love watercolors. I have never painted with oils except when I was very young.
I did Tole lessons for a bit.

I have days where I don’t know what to paint.
But in group there is a challenge I do weekly.

I feel it’s teaching me as I go!

I echo Ocelot’s comments. I ruminate, procrastinate, paint over something that I worked on for hours, obsess over it, look at it 100 times, etc. I wish i could be quicker and have it turn out as nicely as your painting above. Very, very nice!

I must come clean.. I’m really not all that fast.
I’m actually very slow.
I also work in increments. I was 4 hours in the snail.

I must work that way at times. Because if not I ruin things.

Other times I just do some loose tidbit. Just to feel like I did something when my skills wane for days.

Kinda like writers block.

Mine is overthinking and forgetting what it was I wanted to do. Plenty of my stuff hits the ol garbage can!
