The Important of our First Nations Elders and Cultures....

There is a saying, "The meek shall inherit the earth."
Spending time sitting at the feet of Blackfoot Elders helped me to understand this age old saying a little more. In fact, Indigenous Elders have kept a seat open in the circle of life for all people. The Rainbow Warrior prophecy speaks of this invitation to enter the world of the 'real' people. Blame or shame is not part of this world-view, but the global warming crisis has not left us without an opportunity to shift toward a broader philosophy of human existence. This real opportunity produces hope and a paradise on earth behind every human endeavor sensitive to our ecosystems.... It may seem difficult to take a seat in this Circle of Life, but it is equally necessary and rewarding...

"HOPI ELDERS SPEAK

"You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered:

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!

There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of The river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!

Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.

All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we've been waiting for.

We've fallen away from natural law. Global warming is only a symptom of a greater problem. Even if we stop putting excess CO2 in the air from hydrocarbons we are still upsetting the balance of the earth in so many other ways, like uranium mining, electronic waste, and deforestation. As long as we cultivate a peace in our hearts, we will find our path. We need to find out how to live with our surroundings again instead of relying on this detached. alienated supply system of consumerism.

The sollutions to all the problems are really simple (and everyone knows to varrying degrees), but they're hard to actually carry out in practice, because how we all want to complicate things. Thats what I believe.
