I am a petite woman. Why doesn't anyone want to sell me clothing?? I know I am not alone in being a small woman. I see lots of women my size. (5 feet tall and about 110 pounds).
Yesterday I went to Lord & Taylor. They have also eliminated their petite department. Told me to shop online.
Why should I have to do that? I need to try things on more than an average size person.
Stores are closing right and left because of on line shopping and they basically said get of here, we don't want your money.
Seems to me that antagonizing women who also shop for their spouses, kids, in laws, friends is a rather stupid business model. Plus I have bought accessories, makeup etc.
I cancelled my credit card. If they don't want to sell stuff for me,I can find another place to buy things for everyone else.

(16,391 posts)My torso is too long. It's very difficult to get anything to fit. Sigh.

(25,925 posts)Like Laffy Kat I have a long torso, and those who make petite sizes assume every one of us is high waisted. Luckily for me I don't by dresses any more, so it's not an issue since I can buy regular size tops and petite length in slacks.
Lord & Taylor is being stupid, since you are not their only potential customer who wants to buy a petite size. And I have never understood buying clothes on line. I always have to try everything on.
Anyway, there are plenty of clothing sellers who stock petites. Go elsewhere.

(27,848 posts)Even people on the red carpet shows are wearing dresses with the waist almost at their armpits, and they look awful (and Kate Middleton is a huge offender in this regard).
It's not you, it's the clothes.

(14,628 posts)I am tall. If I try clothes in the next largest size than I normally wear, they are just wider, not longer.
And I don't believe I have ever come across a "tall" section in any department store. Once in a while I can find a pair of jeans or dress pants with an "L" on them (for long), but we tall girls never even had our own section in a store.

(17,023 posts)Apparently tall women and short men are doomed to be in ill fitting clothes. I've found tall jeans but shelling out $150 pants makes my head hurt.

(1 post)Most Target stores still have petite sections, as do Nordstroms and other department stores if there are any near you. I'm sorry for your situation!

(15,224 posts)I always see the cutest styles and colors in the petite sections.

(27,848 posts)I'm fairly short (5'4" and I am a bit busty with wide shoulders. I can't find anything to fit. I feel as if I weigh 500 pounds, which is hardly the case. It's just really hard to find clothes, and sizing is insanely erratic.
Don't get me started on shoes!

(206,520 posts)I can certainly understand the need to try things on. Women's sizes are pretty unreliable - I can remember one time when I was looking for jeans and tried on a size 6 that was too big and a size 13 that was too snug. I do like Penney's since it's easy to find a store and I'm kind of in between at 5' 5". I just found a couple of tops I really like in the petite department.

(10,112 posts)Talk about a pain in the ass trying find some pants that fit. Can find the length okay, but then the waists are always like 5 sizes too big. Life's struggle!
