1. I saw them perform at Mud Island in Memphis . . .

in the mid-1980s. One of the best concerts I ever saw. I saw them again a few years later in Seattle. Mud Island was better, so I assume the venue had something to do with it.

I was explaining to my coworker this morning, "This song makes me feel like I need to drive real fast in the middle of the night."

3. INXS should have been a bigger band- Most of their music from the 80s

would have sounded great in stadiums and arenas- I was fortunate enough to see them at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach during their Elegantly Wasted tour- Somewhere along the way they fell off the map.

In '82, my concert-going tastes tended toward the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and some Blow-Dryer Rock (called "Camaro Rock" these days.)

I saw B52s last summer for the first time and I was kicking myself for not seeing them back when I was a teenager.

In retrospect, I think I would've loved to have seen INXS when they first hit.

My cousin would bring home cassette tapes of bands that were being played on the UNC-Chapel Hill college radio station. At an early age I was introduced to The Smiths, INXS,, B52s, U2, REM, etc... My first concert I attended was a U2 show with Todd Rundgren at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill. Over the years I've gotten to see most of the bands that I grew up with.

Was never a big B52s fan, but I'm sure those early shows were extravagant and fresh. For me the Cure, Depeche Mode, and REM's first shows would have been a blast to see. If I had a time machine I'd go back to those days to experience those concerts.

Since I lived in Phoenix, AZ, bands never came until they had a somewhat large following, but I saw these band (the first time) on the following tours:

The Smiths: The Queen is Dead
INXS: Kick
B-52's: Cosmic Thing (I got to see them in a record store and they signed my "Legal Tender" 45!)
REM: Document
U2: The Unforgettable Fire
The Cure: Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
Depeche Mode: Music for the Masses

I love too many of their songs to count, this may be in my top 5 though:
