But seriously, I feel sometimes like we're in a zero tolerance church-lady monitored talk-nice-or-die environment sometimes, and at others I see really hurtful posts, insults to members, left alone.

Good for you, I have never alerted here and I am far more likely to vote to leave something than to have it removed, unless it's a personal attack.

I think I've only been on the short side of one jury (out of a few dozen) but have backed out of a few where I either couldn't figure out what was going on or just didn't want to waste my time on policing a word; I am likely to have been in the minority on some of those.

3. That just happened to me, too.

I was surprised. Most of the time, if people are posting crazy things, I think we should have the sense to leave the thread and not respond to their craziness. We don't have to be drawn into every controversy or naughty word fight. I come here to discuss politics or to find some entertainment in the lounge.

Oh, well. I know I try to be careful and fair when I serve on a jury. Live and learn.
