Amongst his WWII medals was his father's WWI victory medal.
I also have his burial flag given to my mother by the honor guard at his funeral.

I have my grandfather's discharge papers from WWI, apparently he was a very good horseman. I never had the chance to meet him since he died suddenly when my Dad was only 12. I wish I knew more since anyone who knew him had such fond memories of him. My Dad's cousin called me just before Veterans' Day since he planned on writing an article for the newspaper about his Dad and my grandfather, brothers who joined up together, so I was able to learn a little more...

I also have my G-G grandfather's civil war officer's sword.

It was an aerial shot of 100's service men stationed at........wait for it......Pearl Harbor. How cool is THAT?
