National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day Everybody loves chocolate chips! Theyre great in cookies, ice cream, crepes and even on their own as a treat. For Chocolate Chip Day, celebrate by making something really special with chocolate chips. If you have children, making cookies is a really easy and fun way to celebrate, and theyll enjoy eating them when theyre cooked as well! Mix things up by arranging the chocolate chips to make faces and other patterns so that when theyre cooked theyll be unique. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/chocolate-chip-day/Nylon Stockings Day Some holidays are there to celebrate events of momentous cultural significance; others are there to remind us of the little things in life. Nylon Stockings Day is very much in the second category, and a particularly quirky holiday it is too. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/nylon-stockings-day/
Straw Hat Day marks the point when your day-to-day felt hats should be put away (until the Felt Hat Day on September 15th), and when you start start to wear a straw hat instead to keep cool (in both senses of the word!); modern research has tended to show, however, that straw hats arent nescessarily any cooler or better protection from the sun than other hat types. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/straw-hat-day/

(38,958 posts)I am more of a chocolate chip kind a guy, but I really like a good sugar cookie as well!

(206,300 posts)You have to be very careful! Last time I made brownies, someone asked me if they contained nuts. I didn't put any nuts in them, but I was kicking myself for not reading the box so I knew for sure. I don't know if the person who asked just didn't like nuts or had an allergy, so I vowed to remember that from now on. That commercial that's been on recently had an effect on me. Thanks for the reminder...

(38,958 posts)Most mixes are okay from what I have found thru the years, so I'm sure the ones you made were fine. I have been told that I don't need the nuts anyway as I am "Nutty enough"

(206,300 posts)But I've settled on the Ghirardelli Ultimate brownie mix and haven't gotten any complaints yet. I like to bring something to a meeting or if I'm invited somewhere and those always seem to go over well. And I'm nutty, too, so I'm not surprised somebody asked...
