(141 posts)I find them to be often overlooked and underrated.

(12,132 posts)one of the best concerts I've seen. Early 80s, State of Confusion tour - another album that gets overlooked - I imagine because it came way after their "prime". But I love the songs on that album and they played a lot of them plus everything you wanted hear from their older stuff.

(27,872 posts)I'd forgotten about that one; and The Kinks are one of my all-time favorite bands.

Both Charlie Deal and the 2 A.M. Club went platinum last week in a manner of speaking. Huey Lewis, the homegrown musician made good, dropped by the 2 A.M. last week to announce that his latest album "Sports," has earned platinum status (that's 1 million units sold). The album cover was shot at the club's bar and prominently in view on the wall behind Huey Lewis and the News is a Charlie Deal toilet seat guitar. Charlie has vowed that he'll make no changes in his lifestyle even though more than a million homes now contain a picture of one of his masterpieces.

(12,132 posts)NB - They later changed their name to Blackstar Rising because a hip-hop group already had Blackstar. They were a kind of a side project of one of my all-time favorite bands - Carcass - but only released 1 album. They pretty much broke up after drummer Ken Owen (also from Carcass) had a brain hemorrhage in 1999. He was in a coma for a while and the hospital for 10 months. Carcass tours occasionally with a new drummer and they bring Ken to gigs when he's up to it because they want him to have a part in their lives even if he can't perform with them. Ken is now making mostly electronic music but he did do a little short drum solo with Carcass at a festival a while back. I mention all this simply because I thinks it's neat they didn't just abandon him.
For comparison here's some Carcass from my Favorite album - Symphonies of Sickness
