fix or repair daily, indeed

we're close to 500 bucks in on my husband's f150 over the past two months. new water pump, alternator, battery, belts, (two) sets of hoses, thermostat, four gallons of coolant and i can't remember what else. i should be thankful that he can do the work himself, and i am, but that truck is turning into a money pit.

now, in the interest of full disclosure, his folks gave us the truck, we got it shipped from va to co for free and his folks covered all the title/licensing/emissions for us. i can't look a gift horse in the mouth, but it's getting on the husband's (and my) nerves.

oh, first world problems.

I worked with a guy who had a F150 and he loved it and gave him many good years and good miles. mackerel Jul 2015 #1

it's an 89 (i'm a volvo girl and have no idea what that means in ford years) and bessie III has served us well, it's just that everything seems to have blown up at once.

not only do i want my car back, i want him to not be perpetually grumpy. i am such a princess

Drove it for eight years until it started nickel-and-diming me. Sold it in '88. I'm now on my sixth car since then. And every now and then I see that old pickup going down the road. My mechanic had told me it would outlive me, which might explain why the shadetree-mechanic who bought it from me was so delighted to get it. Ah, well.

Just try to remind yourself that this is probably better than shelling out money every month for a car payment. No doubt a huge hassle at times but cheaper.

Hopefully it will stop there for a while but I wonder, did you think all that stuff lasts forever? How many miles does it have?
