It was a pretty lame record, though.

(25,816 posts)My favorite song of that genre:
Brother Buzz
(36,487 posts)The film also starred Michael J. Pollard who played Maynard G. Krebs' beatnik cousin Jerome, who was poised to replace Maynard when Bob Denver got drafted in real life. Fortunately, Bob failed the physical. Smart produces would have had the writers work BOTH into the series.
The quintessential soundtrack for that genre/era is the Coen Brothers film, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, bar none:
Note: The Soggy Bottom Boys, the made up group featured on the soundtrack was a hat tip to Flatt & Scruggs & the Foggy Mountain Boys, and their song, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, is on the Bonnie and Clyde soundtrack.

(25,816 posts)We've tried to cover 'Man of Constant Sorrow ' a few times. Still working on that. And 'Big Rock Candy Mountain' .Yeah, the first time I heard the song 'Bonnie and Clyde' was back then, when the movie came out.

Got clean away, in a stolen car
And waited 'til the heat died down..."
