Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsc'mon guys, i know it's late, but some of you still have to be up
it's a saturday and there's been one reply in almost two hours. i usually don't get nostalgic for the old lounge, but you could almost always get company at this time of night.

(24,146 posts)120 or so miles on the tires with no a/c, about 25 of that because i missed my turn and didn't realize it until waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late because i am so horribly directionally challenged. it was for a photo expedition, so i'm ok with suffering for my art.

(2,682 posts)I'm a real night-owl -- I usually go to bed around 3:00 am. I sleep for 6 or 7 hours, so I'm certainly not sleep-deprived. But I'm retired and I think I've reverted to my normal circadian rhythm of awake nights, sleep mornings. On weekends, son-in-law is in his computer office right next to where my desk is so I hear him more often. The kitties are asleep, the dog sleeps then roams around a bit, and then goes back to sleep. He likes to be in the computer room with son-in-law. Granddaughter is not often here any more. She turns 20 in a couple of weeks; she's taken the summer off school (UW Senior in September) and spends most of her time with some girlfriends who have rented a house near her work. Daughter has to work early so she's in bed by 10. So, it's nice and quiet for me. Our 10-day heat wave is over. I was extremely grateful that the kids bought an air conditioner for the house. It was actually pleasant inside!!
Hope you are having a nice night...

(24,146 posts)but i am also lucky enough to lead a life where showing up to work at noon is an early day. well, that doesn't count the two opening shifts i pull a month, but the day shift manager is surly enough that no one notices how pissed i am about being up so early.

(2,682 posts)All the years I worked, it was a struggle for me to get up to go to work. I had to be there at 8am and it was an hour commute (or more if traffic was bad) by bus. Also had to figure in about 1 1/2 hours to shower and get my war paint and business armor on. I always had my Walkman and earphones. We used to have progressive radio in Seattle so I would turn that on, close my eyes and just drift to work. Same coming home. After I retired, the progressive radio station went away. I miss it.
