And one of the most ethereally gorgeous things ever

This is the musical equivalent of a 22-year-old Catherine Deneuve (in the days of Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort) in a silk dress sashaying down the Champs Elysees on a perfect summer day.

Probably to accomodate all the streetcar tracks. I've never been to San Francisco, so I don't know if Market Street is still that wide. It sure isn't in Philly.

back in '00-01. Still miss the cheesesteaks at Tony Luke Jr's. That might be the Champs Elysees in the 1910s or so. The CE is a mammoth street.

The video description says so. What I don't know is if Market Street is still that wide.

It's wonderful. I wish I could go back into that era.

I also love this footage of downtown London and the incredible traffic jams of horse drawn vehicles from the Victorian era and the days of Sherlock Holmes.

How about a nice duel with epees over Madame Curie?

Still, considering the primitive dentistry and medical care fin de siecle, not to mention the non-existant labor laws, are you sure you'd like to have lived then? And then there's the whole Great War thing...

I went through an Air/Zero 7 phase some time ago, but I hadn't thought of them in awhile. This is perfect for today. Thanks for sharing the song.

I hear you also on the ethereal beauty of Catherine Deneuve in her youth. I would have picked Bell du Jour, I guess just because the languid, disaffected vibe she gives off in that film that, IMO, makes her seem even more lovely.

It looks a lot less seedy on video!

My tip for visitors: those Muni buses are death machines that would just as soon run your ass down as not. Proceed accordingly.

Thanks Skittles - I enjoyed that.
