Far-Leftist music

Recently I have been searching for leftist music and have found a good amount, but im sure there is plenty more out there and I would appreciate if you guys were willing to share

Here is some I have stumbled upon recently, I am only 21 so most of this was made before I was even politically conscious which is another reason im sure there is TONS more out there I have no clue about, I grew up most my life listening to rap music and its still my favorite but tends to not be for others so I will save that for last.

This one is made by Alan Dean, an Irishmen who opposed British Imperialism, its called "Mrs. Thatcher"

&index=48&list=PLcT8An_pbHPHaWirebMHyheHggXmsUcgJ

This is by Pete Seeger, its called "Which side are you on?" and its about the workers strikes in Harlan County,
&list=PLcT8An_pbHPHaWirebMHyheHggXmsUcgJ&index=38

This is just a parody of a Katy Perry song by some college kids but its funny and leftist, its called "I read some Marx (and I liked it)"
&list=PLcT8An_pbHPHaWirebMHyheHggXmsUcgJ&index=40

Alright and here is the rap one, listen more to the lyrics than the sound if you are not a fan of rap because I guarantee you will love the lyrics, its not like the rap you are used to about materialism and promotion of Capitalism, its the exact opposite. Its by Akala, it doesnt have a name yet because its just a snippet of his upcoming album but nonetheless its great,

Let me know what you guys think of this and please share your own leftist music if you know of any.

THE FUNKY WESTERN CIVILIZATION
Life In The Food Chain
(Tonio K.)

come on everybody
get on your feet
get with the beat
there's a brand new dance craze
sweeping the nation
and it's called the funky western civilization

well there's a riot in the courthouse, there's a fire in the street
there's a sinner bein' trampled by a thousand pious feet
there's a baby every minute bein' born without a chance
now don't that make you want to jump right up and start to dance?

let's do the funky
the funky western civilization
it's really spunky
it's just like summertime vacation
you just grab your partner by the hair
throw her down and leave her there

they put jesus on a cross, they put a hole in j.f.k.
they put hitler in the driver's seat and looked the other way
now they've got poison in the water and the whole world in a trance
but just because we're hypnotized, that don't mean we can't dance

we've got the funky
the funky western civilization
it's really spunky
it's just like summertime vacation
you just drag your partner through the dirt
leave him in a world of hurt

you get down
get funky
get western
(own up to it boys and girls)
and if you try real hard maybe you can even get, you know, kinda civilized·

(chicken bucking guitar)....

(mesdames et messieurs, bon soir. this is joan of arc. tonio has asked me to personally deliver a rather special message. he say he just cannot get enough of my 15th-century wisdom. he say he loves it when i talk with him like this. and after many a saturday night of doing ze funky western civilization together, i know for a fact he agrees with me when i say [in french]:
you can bullshit the baker and get the buns
you can back out of every deal except one)

this is the funky
the funky western civilization
it's oh, so very spunky
it's just like summertime vacation
all's you gotta do is find some little kid somewhere
and throw him way up in the air
(never mind the parents)

yes it's a funky
a funky western civilization
and it may seem kinda skunky, you know
but it's hitting every nation (all across the universe)
that's 'cause all's you gotta do is grab your partner by the hair
throw her down and leave her there

Love that Katy Perry parody, btw. Since so much music & art is by rebellious people, the sky's the limit. Here's some I like: Woody Guthrie, Billy Bragg, Leadbelly, Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, The Clash, The Jam, Rage Against the Machine, The Roots, Run the Jewels, Boogie Down Productions, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Fela, Youssou N'Dor, Harry Belafonte. Also:

Gang of Four:

In this album Frank Zappa completely annihilates the far-right fundamentalist Christians, televangelists (Pat Robertson especially in a song called "Jesus Thinks You're A Jerk&quot , and other insane RW whackjobs. It's amazing and easily one of my top 10 favorite FZ albums.

Another one of my favorite FZ tunes - "Dumb All Over" and "Heavenly Bank Account" :

If you consider yourself a leftist in any way, shape or form, you really need to check out his back catalog and watch as many interviews as you can. He hated televangelists, especially Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, loathed Reagan, Nixon, and the BFEE. Zappa also humiliated the hosts of CNN's Crossfire back in the 80's. He also regularly spoke out against music censorship and testified before Congress against the Parents Music Resource Council. And not to mention he also was very active in trying to register as many people as possible to vote. Zappa was definitely one of the good guys.

Lowkey has been on pause for a while but his music is still pretty new and he may be coming back soon,

Same for Immortal Technique, but he is coming back for sure. DISL Automatic is very good and still making new music, and he puts it all out for whatever price you want, even $0.00 if you so choose. He is not trying to get rich like most rappers but is absolutely amazing and a far far leftist,

This guy is DISL Automatics friend but he makes great music himself too, his name is Aspirit, an anagram for "ItIsRap", here is a song about how rap nowadays has sold out and how them two are a breath of fresh air in the rap industry, its called "fresh air" lol, very good song im sure you guys will love, its incredibly anti-materialistic,

These guys are all still going except for Lowkey but he is still around doing concerts once in a while and may come back

If you like Pink Floyd, Steven Wilson is the next incarnation. He has a new album that came out this week called "Hand. Cannot. Erase", and his music can get very political if not his solo material or his 1,000,000,000,000 other projects.

Here's a couple of examples:

This is Mat Callahan back when he was half of a revolutionary duet (with his wife, Sandy) known as Prairie Fire.
He still writes his own music and performs with a new partner, Yvonne Moore.

I've been partial to the words of Michael Franti for some time.

But rather a pejorative placed on others by those on the right. People on the left more typically refer to themselves as liberals or progressives.

And "far leftist" makes one sound like a super extremist.

Not accusing you of anything here, but it just sounded odd.

Yeah im new here and in my introduction post I mentioned that I come from a gaming forum that is almost entirely right-wing, I was essentially the only left-winger, so im sure some of their terminology has rubbed off on me. I take right-wing insults with pride, I actually agree with their "insults" and take them as compliments. I hear all of the people I disagree with on the right scream "COMMIE!!! DAMN SOCIALISTS TAKING OVER M'URICA!!!" and I suppose a natural reaction for people is "Im not a commie!!!" Well my reaction to that is "Indeed, I am a commie " For example, the more right-wingers scream at hippies the more I love hippies. I used to not have a opinion on gay marriage during highschool it just never really crossed my mind, but when I saw all my enemies on the right screaming how much they hate gay people I just about instantly began to support gay rights. I suppose I have the philosophy of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" or something along those lines, so when I see my main enemy, right wingers, fighting against someone my natural reaction is to support their enemy and in many cases even adopt their enemies beliefs and incorporate them into my own. When people call me a "commie" or a "leftist", I dont see it as an insult, my apologies if I offended any of you by using right wing language.
