(10,418 posts)I don't get it, though. It seems like they were thinking that being from the suburbs or a subdivision somehow makes you tough and edgy. I don't think so.

(11,833 posts)I've been listening to them a lot lately. Their entire catalog. Here's a delightful tune (for me every Pavement song is my fav!) from Crooked Rain:

(35,321 posts)I just discovered Stephen Malkmus playing with The Million Dollar Bashers covering Dylan
Check out these 2 songs:

(11,833 posts)That's a great movie & the soundtrack is super interesting. Regarding Pavement, lately I've spent more time with Wowee Zowee, one that took me a while to get into but now I find really satisfying. The songs play off each other in a jazz & punk way. Yeah, Crooked Rain & Brighten the Corners are both so accessible & are among the best of their respective decades, imho. Believe it or not, I haven't yet even gotten any Jicks or Malkmus solo stuff. That's next on my list of future listening.

(35,321 posts)Love Wowee Zowee - some of my favorite songs are from that album
but Crooked Rain is a more complete album
Stephen Malkmus with Pavement (2 songs)
With The Jicks (2 songs)
With The Silver Jews (2 songs)

(11,833 posts)That's a lot of listening so I will check them all out after going for a walk. Can't hardly wait (hehe, nod to the Replacements on that). Thanks a million.

(78,249 posts)I went to Fitzgerald's, a well-known club in Berwyn, IL outside Chicago, to hear the Dirty Dozen brass band from New Orleans. Turns out P.C. and the M.s were on the same bill, and they alternated sets. First up: Paul and the gang. Meh. Then the Dozen came out and tore the roof off the place! Back to Paul & Co. -- and they're much better! Maybe the Dozen turned them on to something backstage.
