(72,300 posts)Now about yesterday: A small road through the prison is used by hundreds of employees and civilian delivery trucks each day. I just don't like driving around in some restricted areas.

(38,958 posts)One suspects that there is never a dull moment and that every trip is a bit different than all the others .

(72,300 posts)Yes, it's always different. Doing my job keeps my mind alert to all possibilities. My drive home is easier no matter what I encounter (notice I didn't say ... no matter what I run into ).

(38,958 posts)Yes, there are it seems far too many rude drivers on the road. I really, really like that my work shifts keep me out of the bulk of the high traffic hours. It's just usually a few Cops and the guys heading to pick up their delivery trucks when I am on the way in. On the way home, I simply let them pass me as fast as they can, noting that I usually pull up to the stop light right behind them, despite their breakneck driving. Somehow the few extra seconds are worth being safe to me....

(72,300 posts)Odd looking piece of equipment. We moved it at dawn. Most of the rigs I escort have bright flashing lights. This one was only very heavy so all it need to be legal was me, my flashing strobe light and oversize signs. It was hard for me to see him and I knew he was there.
