That really was a surprise. I thought I was escorting a crane to the front gate.

Cars do share the road. I sorta wake 'em up to the fact that something dangerous this way comes.

Now about yesterday: A small road through the prison is used by hundreds of employees and civilian delivery trucks each day. I just don't like driving around in some restricted areas.

One suspects that there is never a dull moment and that every trip is a bit different than all the others .

Drivers can be so rude. They just gotta get there first. They cut off state troopers that escort us on the super-loads. One car crashed into a Trooper instead of hitting the concrete bridge piece we were moving.

Yes, it's always different. Doing my job keeps my mind alert to all possibilities. My drive home is easier no matter what I encounter (notice I didn't say ... no matter what I run into ).

Yes, there are it seems far too many rude drivers on the road. I really, really like that my work shifts keep me out of the bulk of the high traffic hours. It's just usually a few Cops and the guys heading to pick up their delivery trucks when I am on the way in. On the way home, I simply let them pass me as fast as they can, noting that I usually pull up to the stop light right behind them, despite their breakneck driving. Somehow the few extra seconds are worth being safe to me....

Odd looking piece of equipment. We moved it at dawn. Most of the rigs I escort have bright flashing lights. This one was only very heavy so all it need to be legal was me, my flashing strobe light and oversize signs. It was hard for me to see him and I knew he was there.
