I've just had to uninstall Google Chrome for about the 20th time.
I was nagged into upgrading my Flash and must've ignored a checkbox and had Chrome shoved down my throat again. AGAIN. I'm happy with my browser (Opera), thank you very much, and if I wanted another browser I wouldn't chose one that's so closely associated with a company that makes its living by spying on everything I do online.
Do no evil, my arse. If there's one company in a position to do incredible evil, it's fucking Google. Now I hear they want to manage my medical records as well. Do not want!
Sorry, we now return you to your regularly scheduled cat videos. As you were.

(2,101 posts)If remembering correctly the bo s) you need to check don't have the focus, are apart from the accept/decline (or whatever), and give the impression that selection will terminate the install. It looks like your install count just incremented!

(32,088 posts)I had it on my old desktop, which doesn't have a lot of memory. Chrome's updater would hog all the memory usage, so I couldn't do any else until the updates were completed. I turned off the automatic update, but that didn't stop it from updating every other day. I finally just got rid of it, as I mostly use Firefox (with which I have also been growing disenchanted.) I may switch to Opera...
Thanks for the warning about the Flash update. I updated on my laptop yesterday, but didn't notice anything about Google. I did manage to keep it from adding the damn McAfee software this time, however. I will keep the Google thing in mind if and when I update my desktop.

Like a lot of others, I'm not happy about the "improvements" in v20 and am using 12 when I can and 20 when 12 stalls on a tricky page.
And I absolutely refuse to use Chrome. I use IE once in a while, and Firefox now and then, and can't imagine why I would need to install chrome ever again.

(22,000 posts)I had lots of problems with IE crashing and swore it off. The problem is Chrome often locks up, especially with videos. Also here in South Korea if you do anything that requires a security program/certificate (i.e. banks, shopping) you have to use IE because none of it is possible on other browsers. Even for work when I log in to the computer to manage my classes (grades, attendance, etc) I have to use IE. It seems like there is a duopoly in the browser market now.

(3 posts)I love Google's functionality and haven't had too many problems with Chrome in the past.
I also use Google Apps For Your Domain which allows me to use Google's email accounts but with my own web domain name.
