The ferries between Vancouver and Victoria pass through here, and I've occasionally see a whale or two. Nothing like this though. Rush hour in Active Pass!
Thanks for sharing. This is one of the many reasons I love that part of the world. Wish I could live there.

(6,154 posts)Also live in Vancouver but the last time I took the ferry was some years ago. I can remember seeing an orca some years back on a ferry ride. I heard the news about this sighting on the news earlier, wonderful to see.

(54,506 posts)Last time I was in that part of the world, I took a trip all the way up to Port Hardy to take a small boat on an orca watch because so many of them were supposedly visible up there. We saw only two or three of them, and only from a distance. Looks like we should just have taken a few commutes on the ferry between Victoria and Vancouver!

(24,382 posts)Is this close to your home? I've been to Vancouver several times in the 1990's for the Indy Car Race, but never really got the chance to explore the area. Gorgeous.
