(149,831 posts)1. Nope, my dear trof, your doctor might not already know that.
If s/he were a specialist who you hadn't seen in a while, s/he wouldn't know.
Or any reason like that. Early pregnancy isn't visible...

If you or a loved one
by Walter Olson on October 15, 2008
Reader Milan Vydareny of Chicago writes:
I was watching CNN the other day while on a treadmill at the gym at 5:00 AM. There was a commercial from a legal firm seeking to promote litigation over some medical device that had been recalled. The announcer intoned If you or a loved one have died because of using .
The thought that came to my mind was: Just how many dead people are listening to CNN at this hour?

(8,747 posts)6. Would you Doctor of Optometry know that?
If you hadn't seen him / her in the last several months? Most people see their Optometrist only about every year or longer. And Optometrists in the US are doctors.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_of_Optometry
Optometrists are trained to prescribe and fit lenses to improve vision, and to diagnose and treat various eye diseases. In the United States, Canada and Ghana optometrists are Doctors of Optometry and are held to the same legal standards as any physician. In all U.S. states optometrists are licensed to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye through topical diagnostic and therapeutic drugs, and oral drugs in 48/50 states. Doctors of Optometry are also able to perform certain types of laser surgery in some states.
